On 12th June 2025, an Air India flight Boeing 787-8 Dreamline AI-171 which take off from Ahmedabad Airport had crashed shortly near the Airport.
The Aircraft bound for London Gatwick which had taken off from Sardar
Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad was board with 242
people including the cabin crew. The number of passenger board was 230
passengers and 12 cabin crew. Soon after the flight is taken off the Co-Pilot
made a call to Air Traffic Control (ATC) just before the crashed.
According to the Director of Civil Aviation (DGCA) it was confirmed from
the Co-Pilot as mayday call to the ATC and then no more response from the Aircraft.
Soon after the take off the Aircraft plunge on the
rooftop of the medical college student hostel building with a massive ball of
fire and explosion. The medical student hostel is just near and adjacent to the
Ahmedabad Airport. The hosteller was having a lunch and so sudden the tragedy
occurred which led to loss of many lives and injured including the AI-171
boarded passenger. The medical student in hope of achieving their dream and
profession was ended with a sudden tragic which was a very horrific incident
for the Nation and their families.
According to the reliable source the AI-171 had a technical complaint such as malfunctioning in the Aircraft. Despite of all such malfunction, the Aircraft take off without proper inspection from the technical teams and engineer which might be the reason of such crashed and fatal. The AI-171 Boeing 787-8 was said to be the safest Aircraft but unfortunately the aircraft plunge on the building and crashed. This marks the first ever fatal crashed involving the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Before the tragedy occur, some had a dream to fly abroad to pursue their dream, some had a plan to meet their families’ member, some had a dream to enjoy their vacation but their destiny could not fulfil and ended up in a tragedy. Fortunately, a woman Ms. Bhoomi Chauhan was late to the Airport by few minutes and missed her Air India flight AI-171 bound for London Gatwick from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad. Later after the crashed, she says that her fate gave her a second chance that saved her life by few minutes of delay.
Due to the fatal burns from the explosion, the rescue team and medical team was unable to identify the bodies and they had to examine the bodies through DNA test with the families’ member DNA sample. At the tragedy spot, several medical teams with ambulance, security, fire fighter, and the rescue team had tried their best to rescue the victim and clean up the spot.
From the Northeast state Manipur, two cabin crew members Ms. Lamnunthem Singson age of 26 Yrs from Kangpokpi District and also Ms. Nganthoi Sharma Kongbrailatpam age of 20 Yrs from Imphal Thoubal also boarded the flight AI-171 and lost in the crashed.
